Merry {early} Christmas to me!

I am not a big Black Friday shopper.

The thought of fighting with people over things I don’t need to buy, battling cars for parking spaces and getting up even earlier than I normally do (I’m in the newsroom at 5:30 a.m. everyday, people) is just not very appealing.

However, I am a professional online shopper. And while folks think that internet deals don’t happen until Cyber Monday, most stores post their Black Friday deals online, leaving people like me to reap the deals from the comfort of my couch.

And this year, I scored.

A lot of my friends have gotten married over the last few years, and at every bridal shower I’ve attended, the bride always receives the coveted KitchenAid Stand Mixer.

I was always jealous. And since I am nowhere near being engaged or married, I thought I was doomed to never have a mixer of my own.

And then Black Friday happened.

Not in search of anything in particular, I was perusing the Kohl’s website to see what kind of deals they were offering.

And that’s when I saw it. A 4.5-quart KitchenAid Stand Mixer for $165. It normally retails for $300.

I didn’t have to think about it long. It was in my shopping cart and headed through checkout process within 10 minutes. Plus, I earned Kohl’s Cash (as the commercial says, “It’s like getting paid to shop!”), which I spent on a new set of Rachael Ray cooking utensils and one of those really funky Rachael Ray olive oil dispensers.

The mixer arrived over the weekend and I used it for the first time earlier this week.

Worth every penny.
