38th Annual Oyster Festival this weekend
York County Heritage Trust will host its 38th annual Oyster Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum, 217 W. Princess St., York.
The Oyster Festival is the longest-running special event of the York County Heritage Trust. Attendees to last year’s event consumed more than 10,000 oysters (stewed, nude and fried) and feasted on other festival favorites including apple fritters, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, creamy macaroni and cheese, shrimp, chicken corn soup, and an array of baked goods sold by the York County Heritage Trust Auxiliary. Wine, beer, and apple cider will also be served.
In addition to food, the event will feature entertainment, demonstrations, and tours throughout the day. Activities begin at 11:30 a.m., starting with a demonstration of Bradley’s Grist Mill. Other demonstrations going on throughout the day include wood working, woodcarving, spinning, embroidery, and tobacco making. Dr. Benjamin Franklin, portrayed by Richard Fox, will also be on-hand, meeting with visitors while he explores the Oyster Festival.
