Favorite storm snacks
Sandy has arrived in York County and many have already lost power, leaving them limited on their food options (especially if they cleaned out their fridge before the storm hit).
I left York on Friday afternoon to visit a childhood friend down south, and although I knew Sandy was heading our way, I didn’t worry too much about my travel plans, as I was supposed to return from Clemson, S.C. tonight.
As you might have guessed, I am stranded, and will be for the next couple of days.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
In my nonchalance in regards to the storm, I failed to properly prepare my apartment for an extended power outage when I return. I have about ten bottles of water, a partial bag of pretzels and a jar of Nutella. I think I’ll be OK, at least for a day, when I get back.
But, if I had been smart enough to stock up on emergency food supplies, I would have probably grabbed the following:
-Trail mix
-Beef jerky
-Peanut butter
-Granola bars
-Pretzels
-Pop-tarts
-Lots of water
Those foods are all ready-to-eat, and give me some breakfast options in addition to snacks, even some protein power (the beef jerky and peanut butter). It doesn’t have to be a total carb overload.
Hopefully when I get back (keep your fingers crossed for a Wednesday evening flight!), the worst of the storm will have passed and even if I don’t have power, I will be able to grab a couple of essentials.
What foods did you stock up on?
