Free meals for Veterans Day
Veterans day is Sunday and everyone should be sure to say “Thank You” to a vet or someone who is currently serving in the military.
But some business are doing more than saying thanks. Restaurants around the country are offering free meals to veterans and active military personnel as a way to show gratitude for their service. Here’s a round-up (Note: Some of these deals are for Sunday and some are for Monday, when Veteran’s Day is observed.):
Applebee’s – Participating Applebee’s will be giving away free meals on Sunday from a limited Veterans Day menu that includes steak, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, salad, pasta, chicken and shrimp. This deal is dine-in only.
Olive Garden – Olive Garden is having a Veterans Day free meal for all veterans and those on active duty on Sunday. Veterans can choose from Seafood Alfredo, Chicken Parmigiana, Unlimited Soup, Salad, & Bread sticks, Grilled Sausage & Peppers Rustica, Cheese Ravioli or Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. All these entrees come with freshly baked garlic breadsticks and choice of soup or salad.
Denny’s – Stop by Denny’s on Monday and all active, non-active and retired military personnel can get free all you can eat pancakes from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Chili’s – Visit Chili’s on Sunday and get your Veterans Day free meal if you are a veteran or on active military duty. You’ll get to choose between OldTimer with Cheese, Chicken Crispers, Margarita Chicken, Classic Turkey Sandwich (Full), Lighter Choices Grilled Chicken Salad, Soup & Salad (this does not include the Bottomless Express Lunch), Cajun Chicken Pasta or Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla. There’s also a reduced cost ($5) for any dessert. Valid on dine in only.
T.G.I. Friday’s – T.G.I. Friday’s will be having free lunch for all veterans on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at participating locations. Meal can be chosen from the lunch menu.
Texas Roadhouse – Texas Roadhouse will be giving away Veterans Day free meals for lunch on Monday to active, former, or retired military. Free entrees include a choice of steak, country fried chicken, country fried sirloin, pulled pork, pork chop, cheeseburger, BBQ chicken sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, grilled chicken salad or chicken critter salad plus your choice of sides. You’ll also get a free coca-cola product, tea or coffee.
Outback Steakhouse – Stop into any Outback Steakhouse on Sunday and Monday to get a free Bloomin’ Onion and Coca-Cola product. This offer is for veterans as well as active duty military.
Red Lobster – Veterans and active duty military can stop by Red Lobster and get a free appetizer on Sunday. They get to choose from Buffalo Chicken Bites, Southwest Chicken Pizza, Sweet Chili Shrimp, Cris Calamari & Vegetables, Lobster Artichoke Dip, Lobster Pizza, Lobster-Stuffed Mushrooms, Parrot Island Coconut Shrimp or Wood-Grilled Shrimp Bruschetta.
LongHorn Steakhouse – LongHorn Steakhouse is giving away free Texas Tonions and non-alcoholic beverages to veterans and active military who stop in on Sunday.
Hooter’s – Stop by a participating Hooters anytime on Sunday and get a Veterans Day free meal. You’ll get 10 free boneless wings. (A drink purchase is required!)
Friendly’s – Friendly’s is giving veterans and active military a free Veterans Day breakfast which includes a Big Two Do Breakfast and coffee on Monday during breakfast hours.
Hoss’s – If you are a veteran or active duty military member, you can get a free meal at Hoss’s on Monday. This is a free meal off their American Values Menu which includes the choice of sirloin, chicken Parmesan, tilapia, salad bar, fried shrimp, meatloaf, grilled or fired chicken tenders or thick-cut ham. All of these are served with soup, salad, dessert bar, and a beverage.
A few things to note:
- Most restaurants require you to show proof of military service.
- These meals are for military personnel only. It does not extend to family members.
- Check with your local establishment to make sure they are participating.
- Gratuity is not included in these deals.
