In episode 8, Phil Hardy uses a “sandwich board” to advertise his availability. These “wandering advertisements” were a common way to attract shopper’s attention back then. You can see some more drawings of sandwich men at Victorian London, a Web site that compiles historic accounts of 1800s England.
