Poster contest for York County students
The York County Department of Emergency Services is inviting students across York County to participate in its annual poster contest.
The focus of the contest each year is to help educate children so they are prepared when an emergency arises. Winners are announced in April during National Telecommunicators Week.
For this year’s contest, children in grades K-8 are asked to focus on the role of 911 dispatchers. They should create a poster that shows the importance of dispatchers in an emergency.
Children in grades 9-12 are asked to create a poster exploring one or more actions to take when flooding occurs. Contestants can visit www.ready-york.org to learn more about flood response.
All posters need to be submitted on or before March 31.
The contest is open to all York County students in grades K-12. One winner will be selected from each grade. Each winner will receive a prize package.
Posters can be mailed or delivered to Amy Smith at the York County Department of Emergency Services, 120 Davies Drive, York, Pa., 17402.
Those wishing to participate are encouraged to read the full list of contest rules by selecting Poster Contest at www.ycdes.org. Students, parents, or teachers with questions should contact Smith at 840-2948.
