Workshops to teach the art of positive graffiti

Posted by on July 19, 2012 in Healthy/Happy | 0 comments

York Habitat for Humanity will present Positive Graffiti Workshops for Teens in July and August at sites in York County.

Young artists ages 13 to 17 will create a positive message about safety, love, family, and faith. Their creations might express what it means to have a house/home, or other positive thought. Participants will produce art on 4- by 8-foot sheets of plywood that will become the future walls of two Building on Faith 2013 homes located on South Albemarle Street.

The construction of the duplex unit will be completed by faith communities from across the county. Volunteers will nail the pieces of graffiti artwork together as the walls are raised during the week-long build. What a beautifully colored canvas the walls of the homes will make!

Openings at the graffiti-skills-for-a-positive-purpose workshops are still available:

– July 25 (rain date July 26) at Warrington Township Park, Rossville.

– Aug. 8 (rain date Aug. 9) at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Brogue

The cost is $30 per participant, which includes all of the supplies and professional instructions.

To register, call Roxanne Price at (717) 891-0989 or email rfp1@psu.edu.
