Spaces available for Archaeology Week
Each summer the York County Heritage Trust partners with the York County Department of Parks and Recreation to offer Archaeology Week for students ages 9-12. And the final week for the summer is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 6-10 at a 19th century York Iron Co. Mine, located in present-day Raab Park.
Students are exposed to the basics of archaeology first-hand as they participate in an actual excavation at a real archaeological site. Campers also learn about how artifacts are preserved and interpreted in a museum setting with visits to trust sites and museums. The trust runs programs during each session to educate participants about the relevant history and time period highlighted at the dig site.
Spaces are still available. To register, visit www.yorkheritage.org.
