In recognition of York’s role in our nation’s history, the York County Heritage Trust announces the 1st Articles of Confederation Day Media Project Contest, open to York County students in grades 3 through 12.

Media projects should address the following issues:

Grades 3-5: What was life like in York, Pennsylvania, for residents or delegates, during the nine months Continental Congress met to debate and adopt the Articles of Confederation?

Grades 6-8: Research and present an issue that was debated during the formation of The Articles of Confederation.

Grades 9-12: What issues in The Articles of Confederation remain relevant today and why?

Suggested media projects can be (but are not limited to) storyboards, photo stories, video clips, powerpoints, newscasts, interviews, songs/raps, debates, or character presentations. Language must be G-rated and appropriate for all audiences. No projects using social media will be accepted.

Entries must be received by Friday, October 26, 2012.

Monetary awards will be given for the top media projects in the three groups, $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.

Awards will be presented Sunday, Nov. 18, at the York County Colonial Court House, 157 W. Market St., as part of a program held from 2-4 pm celebrating Articles of Confederation Day.
