Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to compete for thousands of dollars in scholarships by participating in the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Patriot’s Pen Scholarship competition.

The deadline is Nov. 1 for a typed 300-400 word essay on the theme, What I Would Tell America’s Founding Fathers. The essays need to be submitted with an entry form, available at VFW Post 8951, 1800 Andrew St., York.

Winning entries will receive up to $300 in scholarships and have the chance to be advanced to district and state levels. One first-place state winner will compete at the national level for awards totaling $46,000. For more information about the competition, visit www.vfw.org/Community/Patriot-s-Pen.
