The York Jewish Community Center will open registration for late fall children’s classes at 5 a.m. Oct. 26.
Most classes run from Nov. 5 to Dec. 23 at the center, 2000 Hollywood Drive, York. Registration can be made in person at the JCC, by phone at 843-0918 or online at www.yorkjcc.org
Classes are:
Fun Friday for ages 5-10
4:30-5:45 p.m. Nov. 9 and Dec. 14, $9
nth for fun fitness and art activities. Miss Holly and Miss Octavia join forces to create fun fitness and art activities.
Toddler Tumble and Art for ages 1-3
10:30-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays, $84
Children and caregivers enjoy time together through physical movement, circle time, and social interaction. Our instructor, Holly Metzger, facilitates age appropriate movement activities. After gym at 11:15 a.m., we’ll go to the art room with Miss Octavia to learn about colors and texture through hands-on art activities.
Toddler Tumble only
10:30-11:15 a.m. Wednesdays, $66
Tumble:
The class is designed to introduce the fundamental skills of tumbling (forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels and light conditioning). Participants will develop body awareness, confidence, and strength through tumbling, obstacle courses, balance beam activities and floor exercises.

Yoga:
Yoga for children can promote focus, mind/body awareness, and self confidence. The course is taught with energy and encouragement. Have fun learning different ways to move your body while learning the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Classes are taught by Susanna Kulp, a certified children’s Yoga instructor through the Radiant Child Yoga Program.

– Rookie Basketball for ages 4-5

The class focuses on enhancing skill development through fun games to improve passing, dribbling and shooting. Participants will also improve their basic fundamentals and court movement. The Big Game will be played the last day of class.
– Basketball Hoopsters for ages 6-9
5-5:45 p.m. Mondays, $66
The class focuses on athletic movements and fundamentals to improve basketball skills. Fun games and activities are played to develop dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills. Emphasis is on skill development, sportsmanship, and team play. The Big Game is played the last day of class.
UK Soccer:
Classes taught by professional British soccer coaches.
– UK Nippers for ages 3-5

UK World Famous Soccer Program is a non-competitive program designed for kids to have fun with the ball while learning and enhancing soccer skills.
– UK Kickers Outdoor for ages 5-8
5-5:45 p.m. Wednesdays, $83
UK World Famous Soccer Program will teach the game of soccer to beginners and further strengthen the game of those with prior soccer experience. All skill levels are welcome. We focus on teaching the game in a fun atmosphere while promoting a better understanding and knowledge of how the game is played.
Tennis:
All classes are taught by Holly Metzger.
– Tiny Tennis for ages 4-5
4-4:30 p.m. Thursdays, $54
Class emphasis is placed on agility, movement, hand and eye coordination, balance and stroke development. Participants will have fun learning different tennis skills, while playing fun games and activities with the use of colorful teaching tools that help keep children engaged. Participants are taught individual skills and partner play.
– Youth Tennis for ages 6-9
4:30-5:15 p.m. Thursdays, $63
Participants will learn the proper way to hit forehands and backhands, while learning how to properly move on the court. Class will be taught with fun equipment and props to assist the development of balance, agility and coordination. Emphasis is placed on long term developmental growth. Participants are taught individual skills and partner play.
Cheerleading for ages 5-9
4:15-5 p.m. Thursdays, $53
This beginner class teaches basic chanting, tumbling, motions, jumps, leg conditioning, cheers, and basic stunts. Participants put it all together in a group cheer routine for parents during the JCC basketball game, 5 p.m. Dec. 17.
Youth Hip Hop for ages 5-9
4:15-5 p.m. Mondays, $66
Have fun learning the coolest hip-hop dance moves to some of the most popular music! Participants put it all together in a group hip hop routine for parents during the JCC basketball game, 5 p.m. Dec. 17. Class is taught by Hip Hop dancer and instructor Bobbi Noga in the dance studio.
Go Girl Go for grades 3-5
6-7 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 5-Feb. 4, $90
The national program, supported by the Women’s Sports Foundation, combines athletic skill and fitness instruction with educational information. Educational topics include leadership skills, dealing with peer pressure, stress and enhancing self-esteem. This class is a great way to keep girls active while building character.
Olympic Games for ages 5-9
4:30-5:15 p.m. Fridays, $66
Participants will have fun learning about the Olympic Games through friendly games and competition.
Fun with Music for ages 5-9
6-6:45 p.m. Mondays, $84
The class is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of music and prepare them to start playing an instrument. Participants will learn how to read music, identify notes, count their rhythmic values, and learn to play simple songs on the piano using both hands, and basic theory concepts. Keyboards will be provided for the class, activities, games and a completion of a music workbook to ensure a hands-on learning experience. An evaluation will be provided to be placed in your school portfolio. Instructor, Jennifer Kelly has over 20 years of professional music experience.
Mother-Daughter Fitness for ages 10-13
6:30-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays, $84
The unique class will encourage, motivate, and enhance a mother-daughter’s fitness experience. Miss Holly will provide a variety of fitness workouts including: fitness games, cycling, boot camp, circuits, and fitness activities to up-beat music that all generations can enjoy.
Fit Kidz Weight Training for ages 10-15
4-5 p.m. Tuesdays, $75
Designed to teach youth and teens the proper use of equipment and how to safely exercise in the fitness center. Participants will learn to use the cardio and strength equipment and have fun with fitness activities and games. Children must complete the program in order to use the fitness center with a parent.
American Red Cross Swim Lessons
Private swim and partner lessons are also available. Participants select the day and time suitable to his or her schedule for half hour one-on-one instruction with a certified water safety instructor.
