York County Libraries and PeoplesBank are setting the stage for this year’s Grade One at the Library Celebration, 1:30-3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the West Manchester Mall, York.

Headlining the day’s events are nationally-known author and illustrator Will Hillenbrand, storyteller Beth Rebert, and Changing Faces 4 Fun. The event is free and open to the public.

Hillenbrand will draw and tell stories for the audience, and will be autographing books after his presentation. First-graders should bring their copies of “Down by the Station” for signing. Additional books by Hillenbrand will be available for purchase and signature that day.

This year marks the fifth annual GOAL program presented by York County Libraries and PeoplesBank in partnership with the West Manchester Mall which serves as the annual host of the GOAL celebration and the author luncheon which recognizes the teachers who achieved 100 percent classroom participation.

The GOAL initiative aims to get a library card in the hands of every first-grade student, and introduce them to the many free library resources that can aid their literacy success.
