Get up early to register for these JCC classes

Registration for the Jewish Community Center’s winter session of children’s classes opens at 5 a.m. Dec. 28. Register at the center, 2000 Hollywood Drive, online, www.yorkjcc.org, or by calling 843-0918. Most classes run from Jan. 7 to Feb. 24.

The winter schedule is:

– Toddler Tumble & Art
Jan. 12-Feb. 9
Ages 1-3: 10:30-11:15 a.m. Wednesdays, $84
Ages 1-4: 10:15-11:30 a.m. Saturdays, $56
Children and caregivers enjoy time together through physical movement, circle time, and social interaction. The instructor, Holly Metzger, facilitates age-appropriate movement activities. After activities in the gym, we’ll go to the art room with Miss Octavia to learn about colors and texture through hands-on art activities.

– Toddler Tumble Only
Jan. 12-Feb. 9
Ages 1-3: 10:30-11 a.m. Wednesdays, $66
Ages 1-4: 10:15-11 a.m. Saturdays, $45

– Tumble Bugs
Ages 3-5: 4-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, $53
Ages 4-6: 4:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays, $53
Class is designed to introduce the fundamental skills of tumbling (forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels and light conditioning). Participants will develop body awareness, confidence, and strength through tumbling, obstacle courses, balance beam activities and floor exercises.

– Yoga Bears
Ages 4-5: 4-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays, $68
Yoga for children can promote relaxation, physical coordination, increase self-confidence, encourage self-discipline and encourage compassion and cooperation. The course is taught with energy and encouragement. Your child will have fun learning different ways to move their body with music they can relate to, imitating nature, moving like animals, storytelling, games, focusing on breathing techniques and guided relaxation.

– Youth Yoga
Ages 6-9: 4:30-5:15 p.m. Wednesdays, $76
Yoga for children can promote focus, mind/body awareness, and self confidence. The course is taught with energy and encouragement. Have fun learning different ways to move your body while learning the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

– Co-ed Lacrosse
Ages 5-7: 5:30-6:15 p.m. Thursdays, $66
Learn the basics of how to catch, pass and shoot with fun games and activities. Participants learn basic rules, team skills, and sportsmanship through a variety of games. Class is designed to enhance fundamentals and player development.

– Superheroes Adventure
Jan. 12-Feb. 9
Ages 4-7: 11:15 a.m.-noon Saturdays, $45
Every week the superheroes will have a secret mission. Using their imaginations they will come up with different ways to move and explore. Miss Holly leads the group into a world of adventure, using creative games, equipment and music. Please feel free to wear your superhero costumes!

– Youth Hip Hop
Ages 5-9: 4:15-5 p.m. Mondays, $66 $66
The first five to sign-up receive a goodie bag. Have fun learning the coolest hip-hop dance moves to some of the most popular music! Participants put it all together in a group hip hop routine for parents during the JCC basketball game, 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Class is taught by Hip Hop dancer and instructor, Bobbi Noga in the dance studio.

– Rookie Basketball
Ages 4-5: 4:30-5 p.m. Mondays, $53
This class focuses on enhancing skill development through fun games to improve passing, dribbling and shooting. Participants will also improve their basic fundamentals and court movement. The Big Game will be played the last day of class.

– Basketball Hoopsters
Ages 6-9: 5-5:45 p.m. Mondays, $66
This class focuses on athletic movements and fundamentals to improve basketball skills. Fun games and activities are played to develop dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills. Emphasis is on skill development, sportsmanship, and team play. The Big Game is played the last day of class.

– UK Soccer Nippers
Ages 3-5: Noon-12:45 p.m. Mondays, $83 and 4:30-5 p.m. Wednesdays, $75
UK World Famous Soccer Program is a non-competitive program designed for kids to have fun with the ball while learning and enhancing soccer skills.

– UK Soccer Kickers
Ages 5-8: 5-5:45 p.m. Wednesdays, $83
UK World Famous Soccer Program will teach the game of soccer to beginners and further strengthen the game of those with prior soccer experience. All skill levels are welcome. We focus on teaching the game in a fun atmosphere while promoting a better understanding and knowledge of how the game is played.

– Tiny Tennis
Ages 4-5: 4-4:30 p.m. Thursdays, $68
Class emphasis is placed on agility, movement, hand and eye coordination, balance and stroke development. Participants will have fun learning different tennis skills, while playing fun games and activities with the use of colorful teaching tools that help keep children engaged. Participants are taught individual skills and partner play. Must bring racket.

– Youth Tennis
Ages 6-9: 4:30-5:15 p.m. Thursdays, $76
Participants will learn the proper way to hit forehands and backhands, while learning how to properly move on the court. Class will be taught with fun equipment and props to assist the development of balance, agility and coordination. Emphasis is placed on long term developmental growth. Participants are taught individual skills and partner play. Must bring racket.

– Cheerleading
Ages 5-9: 4:15-5 p.m. Thursdays, $66
This beginner class teaches basic chanting, tumbling, motions, jumps, leg conditioning, cheers, and basic stunts. Participants put it all together in a group cheer routine for parents during the JCC basketball game on Monday, Feb. 18 at 5 pm. Participants must wear a t-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, socks and sneakers. Hair must be tied back and no jewelry please. Pom poms are provided for class use.

– Youth Volleyball
Ages 10-13: 7-8:15 p.m. Mondays, $72
Classes are designed to build and enhance fundamental skills, team strategies and team work to build confidence in participants. This class provides a structured learning environment to develop basic skills. Participants will be taught volleyball skills: serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking and game play.

– Fit Kidz Weight Training
Ages 10-15: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Mondays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursdays, $75
This program introduces youth and teens to the fitness center monitored by a fitness trainer. Learn how to design a fitness program, operate the equipment properly and about keeping fit and healthy. Workouts can be designed for specific sport training. The last 20 minutes of each session focus on sport conditioning to improve agility, speed, and coordination. Class minimum 3, maximum 6.

– Indoor Track & Field
Ages 5-9: 6-6:45 p.m. Mondays, $66
Learn the basic fundamentals of track and field, including sprinting, short distance running, standing long jump and shuttle run. This is a great way to keep active in a fun and exciting environment.

– Flag Football
Ages 5-9: 6:15-7 p.m. Tuesdays, $66
During Class participants will enhance their skills in passing, kicking, running, receiving, and teamwork. This class offers non-contact continuous action while teaching sportsmanship. The big game is played the last day.

– Safe Kids Tae Kwon Do
Jan. 7-March 25
Ages 6 and older: 6:20-7:20 p.m. Mondays, $75
Learn about safety awareness and self-defense while building confidence and self-esteem from instructor Stephen Kirby, black belt. Registration is closed after the 3rd week of class. The JCC does not handle the registration for this class. To register, call (717) 252-2824.
