Central York student earns Girl Scout award

Carly Sipling, 13, a member of Cadette Girl Scout Troop 21611, Springettsbury Township, has earned the Silver Award. For her project, Carly collected 600 books for Communities That Care and donated more than 90 hours of volunteer work. The Central York School District student has been a Scout for nine years. She is pictured with Barbara Snare, of Communities That Care, which honored Carly with The Spirit of Youth Award during a Springettsbury Township Saturday in the Park event.

Cadette Girl Scouts from York earn Silver Awards

Two 13-year-old members of Cadette Girl Scout Troop 21611 of The Girls In The Heart of PA of York County, Springettsbury Township, received Silver Awards on June 4. The achievement is the highest award that can be earned by a Cadette Girl Scout and requires at least 50 service hours.

To earn the award, Katelyn Nicholson completed the construction of a canopy table for the York County Park System and volunteered throughout York County with a total of 70 service hours. She has been a Scout for eight years.

Keli Watson completed her project by initiating a bood reading and craft program at Kreutz Creek Valley Library. She completed at least 50 hours of service.
