Homeschoolers to offer Back to School Fair

The Harrisburg Area Homeschoolers Association will host a Back to School Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill.

The event will feature a used curriculum sale and a homeschooling high school workshop. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from area businesses that offer services and activities for homeschooling families in central Pennsylvania.

All area families who educate their children at home are invited to participate in this event. Items for sale will be books, curriculum, manipulatives, educational videos, DVDs, computer games, etc.

Admission is $1.

The Harrisburg Area Homeschoolers Association has a membership of 300 families from York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.

Free workshop about home education options

The Harrisburg Area Homeschoolers Association will host a free workshop, Home Education — Exploring Your Options, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 21 in the community room at Frederickson Library, 100 N. 19th St., Camp Hill.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide general information to families who are interested in learning more about educating their children at home. Public cyber charter schools as well as traditional homeschooling will be discussed. Jamey McClintock, HAHA president, will present the pros and cons of each option, the differences between them, and will share personal reflections from her own experiences. There will also be a question and answer session.
