High school bands to compete at Littlestown

The Littlestown Band Boosters will host the annual Festival of Bands competition, 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Littlestown Memorial Field.

The competition will begin with the National Anthem performed by the Littlestown Middle School Gold Band. Competing bands will be Red Lion Area, York Suburban, New Oxford, North Carroll, Delone Catholic, Penn Manor and Greencastle-Antrim high schools. Littlestown Blue Band will take the field in exhibition to complete the competition. The awards ceremony will begin at 9:15 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. There will be a full service concession stand available as well as candy grams and flower grams.

In case of rain, the event will be held in Littlestown High School.

Littlestown Band Boosters will host their annual Bob Rippman Memorial Kida competition, 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Littlestown High School.

The competition will open at 2:55 p.m. with the playing of the National Anthem. The event will continue with:
– Percussion ensemble units: West Perry Gold, York Suburban Gold and Greencastle-Antrim Blue.
– Moving percussion performances: Bermudian Springs Gold, Mechanicsburg Blue and Biglerville Blue.
– Littlestown High School’s Moving Percussion group in exhibition.
– Percussion Awards, 4 p.m.
– Intermission.
