New Hope receives $1,000 grant
The New Hope Academy Charter School received a $1,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation and their West Manchester Mall location on Dec. 20 to support community programs.
The grant, funded through Walmart’s Local Community Contribution/Hunger Outreach Grant Program, will aid the school in purchasing supplies for major community events, such as family resource fairs, end-of-year block parties, and National Night Out.
“At New Hope, we view education as more than just what happens during the school day,” said Rijelle Kraft, director of community partnerships. “This grant allows us to fund all of our community programs that help develop well-rounded students outside of the classroom.”
NHACS hosts twice yearly Family Resource Fairs, an end of the school year Block Party, Awards Ceremonies, Graduation, and National Night Out, events that encourage parents, children, and community members to come together to support students’ needs. During these events, the charter school provides free food, gives away bags of groceries, household items and clothing, book bags, and school supplies. These items help meet students’ basic needs so that they can achieve academic success within the classroom.
