The community is invited to a Night of Science

Retired DAHS teacher Bob Moreland wows the audience.

The 10th annual Dallastown Area High School Night of Science will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the high school auditorium, 700 New School Lane, Dallastown.

The audience will be treated to a full hour of science demonstrations performed by the high school faculty. Demonstrations will include a rocket-propelled skateboard, exploding balloons, liquid nitrogen activities, a hovercraft, and many others. These entertaining but mentally stimulating experiments will engage people of all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens.

The district is inviting the public to enjoy the event for the sheer fun of learning and the promotion of science education. Door prizes will be awarded.

Admission is FREE. Reserve seating will not be available, so arrive early. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Dallastown students to perform in summer musical

As part of their senior project, three Dallastown juniors — Justin Schilling, Emilee Gorski and Emilio Pichardo — are working on a summer musical, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.”

Held at 2 and 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 2 p.m. Aug. 7 in the Dallastown Middle School auditorium, the play stars Emilio Pichardo as Snoopy, Emilee Gorski as Lucy, Ryan Creedon as Charlie Brown, Megan Anderson as Sally, Justin Schilling as Schroeder, Samantha Anderson as Violet, Kayla Frederick as Patty, Alicia Inkrote as Frieda, Ali Skouras as Pigpen, Vanessa Trauger as Marcie, and Madi Zoller as Peppermint Patty.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

The students are also organizing a Make a Happiness Wish Benefit production where they are inviting Make-A-Wish families to a special performance on Aug. 4. All proceeds will be donated to the local Make-A-Wish Foundation.

D-town French students take nat’l exam

Dallastown Area High School French I through French IV students recently took the Grand Concours national French exam and scored in the top 20 percent nationwide. The exam is administered annually through local chapters of the American Association of Teachers of French.

In addition to Dallastown Area High School, the Susquehanna Chapter of AATF is represented by neighboring schools including Harrisburg Academy, Mercersburg Academy, Trinity High School and Susquehannock High School.
