PSU Can Take Step to Next Level
A few weeks ago, I opined that Penn State’s game against Iowa was a season changer.
The Lions got that win and added Purdue last week, to go to 6-1.
Now, a road test at Northwestern awaits; and much like Iowa, this game’s outcome could determine the kind of season Penn State will have.
If the Lions can beat a Wildcat team with a deceptive 2-4 record, they can face the final, difficult four weeks of their season with a real chance to win nine games and get a New Year’s Day bowl, something that seemed unlikely after tougher than they should have been wins against Temple and Indiana.
Each win has to give this team more confidence. That is a key ingredient as the schedule brings Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin in those final three weeks.
The offensive line, the defensive backs, the quarterbacks, all must believe they can play with and beat anybody, for this squad to have a realistic chance against these teams.
Another W, on the road, this Saturday night in Evanston could provide that inner boost.
